Review of Waking Life (2001) by Kevin M — 19 Jul 2008

I knew going into this film that it was going to be a completely different experience, unlike anything I had ever seen before. I chose to use the word experience because thats exactly what it was. Linklater really took an experimental approach to this and I think that the animation really gives this film a unique breath of life.

As the film takes you through complete mindfucks, you are completely distraught as to what to pay attention to. On the one hand, you have the beautiful and sometimes shocking animation and on the other you have incredibly well crafted dialog.

This experience really made me think about my own views with philosophy and such.
