Review of Wake Up Sid (2009) by Mehul M — 04 Oct 2009
After being thoroughly convinced that Ranbir couldn't act to save his life, this is a pleasant surprise. A decent movie - though don't agree with the critics who rate this as highly as DCH but it is definitely in the class of Jaane Tu ya.
..Synopisis - Spoilt brat born with a silver spoon transforms to a reponsible human being in a coming-of-age tale with a romantic twist. Major gripe - The period of transformation (two months) is extremely hard to swallow as I know of no elitist brat who would transform that fast (Hey, if you know someone, please do give details.
.;)). The performances by Anupam Kher, Konkona Sen(in an oedipal-style mothering relationship with Ranbir) and Supriya Pathak are especially outstanding. Ranbir - I guess he pretty much plays himself throughout the movie, so there isn't much acting to judge him on, is there.
