Review of Wake in Fright (1971) by Bill M — 31 Mar 2014
An extremely disturbing experience, coated with dust, sweat, grit and blood and booze, it's an intensely atmospheric and visceral movie, it feels uncomfortably real and in your face. If you have the stomach to watch it, and with an extended graphic (real) kangaroo cull sequence at it's centre, you will definately need a strong stomach, then you will dive head first into a pungently vivid nightmare, where the unforgiving heat of the australian sun is felt as is the sickening, deat heat hangover of it's main character, you'll swear you were there.
