Review of Wake in Fright (1971) by Saeed R — 05 Mar 2015
A schoolteacher in Australia is disgruntled to be posted by the authorities to teach in a one-horse little dot in the Outback. Leaving to vacation with his pretty girlfriend on the beach he finds himself waylaid in a certain town where bad things happen to him when he starts running with a bad crowd.
Some scenes are actually pretty shocking, but the overall effect is best described as disquieting. A well made low budget on-location film, if you've got the stomach to watch it.
