Review of W. (2008) by Mark M — 07 Oct 2009
1 hour and 50 minutes of Bush bashing with about 10 minutes of 'Well Bush isn't so bad' moments to equal a not so objective look at the life of George W. Bush. For instance if a person knew nothing about W. before watching this, one would think that basically W. was a cocky, drunk, selfish jerk who is a complete moron. Even the way they portray how Bush eats makes him look like an idiot in this film. The filmmakers cover just too much ground and it never really captures the man because all it ends up covering is several ignorant or stupid things that Bush has done.
I can't recommend this movie, if you hate Bush I'm sure you will love it and if you love him you will hate it. I personally don't think he is the greatest president this country has ever had, but I don't think he is the devil either. Just ask Michael Moore. I heard that this movie was somewhat neutral in its portrayal of W, but it really only focuses on the bad and really never the good. This is a step down from say Fahrenheit 9/11, but still is basically left wing propaganda. It didn't feel like the movie was truly trying to tell the real story of his life, it just felt like the filmmakers wanted to hate on Bush. It literally jumped from scene to scene showing Bush act like a nincompoop. The film was interesting at times, but felt disjointed and just plain unfair.
