Review of W. (2008) by Dan T — 16 Apr 2011
"Well I'm no target picker, but I'm no Clinton either. I don't wanna fire no 2 million dollar missile at a 10 dollar empty tent and hit a camel in the ass.
~ George W. Bush ~.
Director Oliver Stone is at it again in this supremely bold and brave cinematic portrayal of America's 43rd president, George W. Bush. A brash excursion of humor, Americana, and the strength of one man's faith even through his darkest hours. Stone's portrayal is brilliantly executed in this film, a top notch entertainment tthat manages to be not only convincing but completely engaging as well. Join Bush and his entire cabinet as they tread through the waters of dark times together. A great portrayal of te life of one of the prominent and controversial figures of my time. Another vision from Oliver Stone, and yet another one of films that left me satisfied.
Josh Brolin played Bush with ultra-realism, no one could have been better suited or pulled this good of an act off like Josh Brolin. A work of sheer brilliance. Elizabeth Banks gives the performance of her career as Barbara Bush. James Cromwell is great as George Bush Sr. Thandie Newton is good as Condeleeza Rice. Ellen Burstyn is awesome as she always is in her act as Bush' mother. Richard Dreyfuss and Scott Glenn are the anchor to this all star cast that hit a homerun talent wise.
