Oliver Stone was probably sitting around one day completely out of ideas for movies to make and figured "Well everyone hates President Bush, so I guess a movie about him will be popular, so lets make that" That is the only conceivable reason I can think of that this movie was even made.
Who makes a movie about a President in the middle of his tenure in office ? He knew people would go see it because President Bush is such a controversial figure among Americans. And seeing what Oliver Stone has been putting out the past decade or so, lets just be frank here, the guy is dry on ideas.
He's got nothing good left as of right now. All that said doesn't take away from the pretty solid performances by everyone involved. Just a movie that was made for selling movie tickets. Oliver Stone can tell you otherwise, but I see through that.
