Review of Vision Quest (1985) by Joseph F — 20 Dec 2009
Having wrestled for 8 years, 2 of which were at the division I level, I can honestly say that this movie is not what inspired me when I was still into it. Journey's music attempts to drown out the annoying whining main character seen constantly running through the city in a sauna suit while he attempts to cut a few pounds and falls in love with a girl picked up off the side of the road.
The wrestling in the film consists of a series of Greco-roman 5-point suplexes which carry the main character to victory against a complete "badass" from another high school. The acting is dull, even for the 80s, and the humor kind of bland.
The funniest thing about the movie is how extremely awful some of it is. Its one of those "so bad its good" movies, like "deep blue sea".
