Review of Viridiana (1962) by Andrew H — 24 Oct 2008
I was disappointed in this - especially as Bunuel is one of my favaourite directors. I've heard it said that this is one of the most philosophical pictures ever made. It felt more political to me (and I didn't like the overly simplified politics it preached.).
Not so much a damning indictment of the Catholic Church as a sorry slide into stereotype.
