Review of Viridiana (1962) by Johannes R — 14 Jun 2011
16.6.2011.
While not one of Buñuel's best films, it's still a good show of his encagement with sexuality and poking fun at Christian customs and belief systems. This time, he also deals with charity, good-will and its dangers. Some of the visuals are strong, while other symbols are more obvious and blatant. The overall story-arch works, but the micro-level doesn't always have that much interest. A wicked comedy with a personal touch of an artist.
