Review of Viridiana (1962) by Alex B — 23 May 2011
Bunuel, with hilarious morbidity and a light/deft touch, takes on Catholicism/Christianity/religion, the landed gentry, the bourgeoisie, and the lumpenproletariat, and gets the better of them all, putting them all in their place.
Watch it with Major Barbara, or There Will Be Blood.
