There are few movies that stand the test of time and even fewer that blossom years after they are made: Videodrome is one of those movies! The genius of Cronenberg is undeniable as his quarter-century-old vision of the future holds more true now than it did in the 80's. I swear, there were parts when I wanted to pause after every line of dialogue to analyze the psychological aspects of the deranged points of view. As to being voted for "the 23 weirdest movies of all time", I strongly disagree. Certainly there are segments you wouldn't usually see in a movie, but as they are hallucinations and thus reflections of the protagonists twisted psyche they were entirely justified.

The subversive content of modern entertainment may not brainwash us as profoundly as suggested in the movie, but there is a word to be said about the modern viewers' lust for evermore growing sex and violence. The leap from desensitization to detachment from reality grows narrower each passing year as we begin to see the weakest of us starting to crumble and turn into school shooters and junior-Unabombers. In this day, I believe this is a movie everyone must see, as shocking as it may be.
