Review of Victor Frankenstein (2015) by Kevin M — 22 Jan 2016
The movie started off really well. I think that Radcliffe is a good actor who has a future ahead of him. His interpretation of Igor was quite interesting. The way he cotorted his body was fantastic. McAvoy is always good and gave Frankenstein a manic energy.
I even found the directorial choices of showing the inside of human/animal bodies like a picture out of a medical textbook quite interesting. I would equate the film to a rollercoaster. There is a promise of a build up but then it just plummets, I mean plummets, hard.
The movie can't decide what tone it wants to play up and just gets really weird. Landis throws so much at the screen and nothing works. I went from thinking it had a weird, but charming energy, to thinking it was such a failure.
