While Christian Bale does an incredible job in his role, he can't save the odd screenplay and at times bazaar dialogue. When Amy Adams and Christian Bale began speaking in Shakespearean, I was officially out.
It seemed like Adam McKay was taking some artsy risks that simply didn't work.
