Beautiful to look at and with a compelling base story, Vexille still is often very derivative of other anime and sci-fi with visuals or plot elements lifted directly or in part from from Dune, The Matrix movies, Star Wars, Minority Report, Appleseed, Akira, Bubblegum Crisis etc.
A good intro to anime for the uninitiated though.
