It has all the classic Hitchcock elements of filming. There are a few elements that do not stand the test of time which include a bit too much special effects (of the time) and does not leave it to the imagination removing a bit of the suspense.

Another aspect that takes away a bit of Hitchcock's element of surprise is that the background information on the events of the film are revealed too soon which also removes some of the element of surprise and might not appeal to all fans of film.

While everything is being experienced from the perspective of James Stewart's character throughout the film, the film breaks away and reveals information from the perspective of a different character with plenty of running time left.

For Hitchcock fans, the style and storytelling are sufficient and it remains a classic in its own right.
