Review of Veronica Mars (2014) by Dayna W — 21 Jun 2014
Unfortunately, this movie failed to engage me as it would for the diehard fans.
It relied on dialogue driving the film with each sentence attempting to outsmart the last. This humour often fell flat though as the direction of the film did not back it up and each sarcastic reply was one too many. The overdub seemed unneeded and at times annoying, and the average on-screen graphics were also redundant.
The storyline relied on the viewers knowledge of the series as the whole thing was one massive reunion of characters with an basic storyline in the background that really was coincidence after coincidence.
Overall, it had it's quirky moments and made me long to watch the original series so I could share in the excitement this movie brought to many. But as an outsider looking in on this fandom, it just wasn't enough. I can only take so many sarcastic replies and distracted Veronica transition scenes which made up the majority of the film.
