Review of Vera Drake (2004) by Jean S — 03 Jun 2007
Forget stunning locations, visual effects and orchestral soundtracks - this is one of those few films in which the acting is sufficient to draw you in and absorb you. A trip back in time to post-war East London, and a very interesting portrayal of the medical and legal complications encountered by different socio-economic classes before the legalisation of abortion.
