Review of Vera Drake (2004) by Terry D — 05 Apr 2008
Mike Leigh loves his films to be down beat and this film doesn't change that. But it is a wonderful piece of cinema that shows realistically a bygone era. The performances (not just by Staunton who is fantastic, but by everyone concerned) and dialog are what make the film so real and interesting to watch although it does slow down in a few parts.
