Mike Leigh has done it again. He created a marvelous role for a rather little known actress. First was Brenda Blethyn in the wonderful "Secrets & Lies"; now was Imelda Staunton's turn and, as Vera Drake, she is heartbreakingly earnest and kind.
Plus, it gave the world the first real look at Sally Hawkins.
