This movie is one of the most memorable EVER. I love film. I love theatre even more. This movie is all Roman Polanski- arty, erotic, complex, and dark. Suffice to say the libretto/film adapter from this Tony Award winning best B'way play is outstanding, The acting and staging are electric and the filming sensational.
Do I recommend it? Perhaps not for everyone- erotic themes and bad language. Hey, it's Roman Polanski. However, cinephiles and theatre rats, as I am surely, will embrace this incredible triumph of a film, which achieves "life imitating art," without a contrivance or cliche in any nook of that proscenium.
Obviously, I was enthralled.
