When the film started...I thought I was watching Roman Polanski acting and he had not aged in 40 years. Then he turned into Jian Ghomeshi with all that has been going on here in Canada. Polanski's real-life wife was fantastic as the auditioning actress.
If you read the wiki on Polanski and see what he had been through from early on in his life -- I think it really helps one to understand this brilliant master of the film medium. A stellar blending of film and theatre that takes you away at times.
