Review of Vantage Point (2008) by Renee W — 10 Apr 2012
Ripped by critics, but not nearly as bad as they made it out to be. It does a very nice job of setting up the central mystery of who is behind the assassination attempt on the president (or POTUS, as the Secret Service refers to him).
Nice acting jobs all the way around, especially by Forest Whitaker as a man who accidentally witnesses so much of what actually happens. Does it get a little ridiculous towards the end. Yeah, probably, but by that time you know you're watching Hollywood entertainment in its most manipulative state, and you just want to figure out how they're going to wrap it all up without any lose ends.
And for all intensive purposes they do just that. Set aside any sense of realism for an hour and a half, and you just might enjoy it.
