Review of Vampire's Kiss (1989) by Carlos B — 06 Mar 2009
A very awkward dark comedy/Drama from 1989. The high point on this film is Nicolas Cage acting ,which is very over the top,yet hilarious at times. The film I must say is unlike anything I have seen before .
Also another thing that really surprised me is that it does not looks dated at all(This movie was made 20 years ago?? wow). The story looses steam in the last half hour , the plot just seems repetitive and this project as a whole feels also like one of those movies that is to be watched just once in your life.
Also what really ruins this film is that the story really drains you(Nic Cage being all crazy 100% of the time became annoying after 40 minutes) and some themes (like the whole mental and physical abuse actress Maria Conchita Alonso's character goes thru at the later part of the movie) just seemed out of place, yet you can't stop watching it after you start.
.. strictly for Nic Cage and Dark Comedy fans.
