Review of Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017) by Joshua M — 04 Nov 2017
The visuals are the main highlight that keeps this movie watchable. While serviceable, the story premise is kind of overly broad and is reminiscent of many other more-familiar science fiction plots. Only half of the main co-starring duo really makes an impression; Cara Delevigne here is leagues better than her appearance as the lackluster Enchantress of "Suicide Squad.
" Meanwhile, Dane DeHaan does not offer enough likability or light-heartedness to show Valerian as the fun protagonist the filmmakers are going for.
