Review of Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017) by Leon B — 07 Jan 2018

Ultimately, this is the crazy, big-world, bigger-lore, eye-popping, vibrant, electric, in-your-face, sci-fi space opera that Jupiter Ascending wanted to be. Should've been. And... wasn't. Valerian is so much fun, and so gorgeous to look at, I loved it. It's surprisingly good-natured and endlessly creative. I want to be shocked that it's not flat-out loved by a wider audience, but I'm not surprised in the least. Movies like this always get panned.

I give it five years before the internet collectively realizes that they made a mistake and that Valerian needs to be revisited because it's actually fantastic. I will be among the vocal minority screaming from the digital rooftops: I told you so.
