Review of Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017) by Max S — 19 Jul 2017
Short version: if you enjoyed James Cameron's Avatar, you'll probably enjoy this, only differences are it's less flashy but has better plot and character development.
Slightly longer version: Has a good introduction to the world and premise of the story itself, and overall the plot is well paced. The plot was very easy to pick up on, so there were not many surprises, but having tempered expectations due to seeing some reviews made me enjoy the story more than I expected, which was good. Cinematography was par for a space adventure, I saw it in 2D so I can't testify to the 3D effects but the visuals were good and not overwhelming. Only real downsides to the film are the somewhat predictable plot and and the occasional campy moment. If you want to see a movie, this one is worth considering.
