Upgrade is a fresh and unique addition to the Sci-Fi genre. The world of Upgrade is gritty and technologically advanced. Director Leigh Whannell creates a world that is fully developed and does not have to hold the audineces hand through the technological advancements.
The film is held together by soild action sequences and a well-crafted narrative. The action is not the focus of the film but the choreography is tremendous and you feel every blow. Action films should follow suit, instead of jamming a film with uninspired fight sequences.
The narrative is somewhat predictable but it flows nicely and keeps the audience engaged by solid dialogue and performances. Logan Marshall-Green (Grey) is a tremendous talent that is criminally underrated often being compared to Tom Hardy.
Upgrade is an extremely entertaining film and provides a great world to revisit.
