Review of Up the Yangtze (2007) by Ian G — 15 Mar 2008
A movie that intents to post more questions than answering them, that's the purpose of a documentary!! It provokes us to reflect on the way we live, our preconceived notions of many things, the pros and cons, and sacrifices behind our so called "progress' and "achievement", and shows the complexities and multiplicities of human natures and their experiences toward this substantial change, not only about the construction of hydro-electric dam, but to underlying major economic, cultural, social, political, and geographic transformation currently taking place in China.
Definitely worth worthing. Showing in downtown Cumberland theatre in Toronto!
