Review of Up in the Air (2009) by Robyn M — 28 Jul 2012
George Clooney may have 3 movies coming out at around the time of this writing, but at least he has chosen well. You could say this is a more rounded and realistic version of the exaggerated character he played in Intolerable Cruelty.
The sophisticated, first-class travel existence of Bingham contrasts sharply with the subsequent homely environment of his hometown, the latter filmed through a warm nostalgic glow. The message is clear, but delivered expertly through the performances of Clooney, Farmiga and Kendrick.
Damning too, is the depiction of the contract hatchet man industry in America that is the backdrop for the movie.
