Review of Up in the Air (2009) by Dave M — 11 Feb 2013
A very human film experience. Up in the Air breaks that rare boundary of story structure and emotion mixed with a lot of humor. Other movies like this; Sideways, Jerry Maguire, As Good As it Gets. Having disliked Thank You For Smoking I wasn't sure if Jason Reitman was indeed the next Cameron Crowe or Alexander Payne.
With Up in the Air he has finally graduated into "great director" status. One of the best directed comedies in ages. George Clooney was great, and his chemistry with both Vera Farmiga and Anna Kendrick were astounding.
Like I said before, this movie has an insanely humanistic quality to it and is definitely one of the years best.
