Review of Unthinkable (2007) by Roni A — 29 Jun 2012
Unthinkable leaves us hanging with one ethical question at the end. It's one that really cannot be answered. The film itself was an interesting story about the use of torture to obtain information that would save tens of millions of innocent lives within the next few days.
Samuel L. Jackson was, as per usual, spot on, portraying an experienced top-notch intelligence expert with the job of extracting the locations of three nuclear bombs armed to explode in major metropolitan areas in the US by an American Muslim extremist.
Carrie-Anne Moss was unknown to me previously, but did a fine job playing an FBI agent with a heart and conscience assigned to assist "H" (Jackson). While there are holes in the story, overall it was quite frightening and suspenseful.
Watching the personality changes of the woman as she is drawn in to the torture and madness of the perpetrator was interesting and relatable. It is a good rental. as lways, I turned my head at the graphic scenes, so definitely not for young people.
