Review of Beasts of the Southern Wild (2012) by Roni A — 24 Mar 2013
Beautifully enchanting & bittersweet film about the special relationship between a girl & her father, and their survival strategies in the unsophisticated bayou swamplands in a lonely part of the South.
Also depicts how children view the world through imagination and a sense of innocence & grandiosity regarding their significance, both in a positive & negative sense. This little actress showed emotion in such an authentic way, especially a young child's frustration & anger dealing with adults & trying to figure things out with limited information & intellectual capacity.
Brilliant film, beautiful work by Quvenzhane Wallis & the actor playing her father.
