Review of Universal Soldier: Regeneration (2010) by Brad G — 25 Apr 2010
Decent if not extraordinary sequel to the â??92 JCVD actionerâ?¦but thatâ??s better than I was expecting from this Direct-To-DVD outing. Jean Claude gets some decent screentime as the recuperating GR44 Super Soldier but he comes off way too old for this vehicleâ??he seems hound dog tired rather than stern and Terminatory.
The real treat is the return of the psychotic Dolph Lundgren, who despite being even older than JCVD, is not at all tiredâ??and completely terrifying. Too bad their epic faceoff is not saved for the climax; instead their duel serves as but a simple buildup for the final bloodmatch of JCVD vs.
Andrei â??The Pit Bullâ?? Arlovski, who is just boring. Decent action, decent violence. â??Bout as good as the original. VF.
