Review of Umberto D. (1952) by Tans D — 05 Mar 2009
An absolutely stunning film about the meaning of life. Vittorio De Sica delivers another masterpiece, but is not quite as good as his previous film: The Bicycle Thief. (One of my favorites) Carlo Battisti was tremendous in the troubled lead.
The film opens with a band and never lets a dull moment pass you by. You begin to really feel for the main character, but I do believe that they should have allowed us to delve deeper into the lead. My favorite part about this film was the powerful, moving, and ultimately touching ending.
It really makes you think about life.
