Review of Umberto D. (1952) by Steve M — 03 Sep 2011
Another masterpiece by Vittorio DeSica. Definitely on par with Bicycle thieves as one of the great simplistic yet powerful and great human dramas. I think DeSica made better Neo-realism films than anyone because he delved deeper into character's emotions and struggles, and didn't need cheap tricks to evoke tears from the audience.
