Review of Umberto D. (1952) by Nik M — 23 Feb 2013
Umberto D. is Italian neorealist masterwork paired with Bicycle Thief as some of the best neorealist films to date. The characters' suffering is so incredibly expansive in the representation of the workplace, the post-work life, and exposes some daring contrasts in humanity through the surrounding characters such as Maria, the maid, and the landlady.
