Review of U Turn (1997) by Pablo M — 29 May 2010
After all his sweeping, overambitious and politically charged films, it turns out my favourite Oliver Stone film is one of his supposedly "minor" works. It's an absolutely superb film-noir with a delicious decadent Peckinpah feel, and it's true that there are many similarities with John Dahl's "Red Rock West", as some critics have pointed out, but I just don't care, it's too good to worry about where its inspiration might have come from.
