Review of Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me (1992) by Linda R — 12 Jan 2008
To me, this is the most disturbing Lynch film because we are seeing everything that was merely hinted at in the television series. It is devastating to see the horrors Laura experienced firsthand. The humor that is ever-present in the series is practically non-existent here.
This disappointed me initially, but I think Lynch wanted to show the increasing isolation of Laura Palmer from the innocent small-town life she used to know. We see how she lost every semblance of safety and innocence in those last days.
We see her devastation at the realization of who BOB is. This is a truly great film if one can think of it as a related but separate entity from the series.
