Review of Turn Me On, Dammit! (2011) by Bjorn O — 14 Dec 2011
I actually liked this movie as it was a bit of a change from typical movies of this genre. By that I mean the main character in this film is an adolescent who is rather horny and goes about telling their friends about something that happened and gets ostracized from it, and daydreams about having sex. They also call sex lines to aid in relieving that horniness. And their single parent finds out about their horniness and that causes additional problems.
Now, from the above description, you're probably thinking that this is a typical sex movie, but I would say you're wrong. First off, the film was done in Norway so English is not the language in the film but Norwegian is. So I watched the film with the English subtitles. It was interesting. Secondly, the main character I talk about is a 15 year old girl. That's right, she's a girl, not a boy. A blond haired, blue eyed Norwegian girl who's quite lovely to be honest. And she's incredibly horny for some reason which is never explained how she got that way, just that the movie starts off with her already being horny. So there's the difference from typical movies.
She hangs around with two sisters, one of which likes to be prim and proper and popular, wearing too much lip gloss at times and somewhat demanding and leader-like. When the main character Alma says something that happened, the one sister, also blond haired, doesn't believe it and when confronted, the person that supposedly did the one thing, denies it. And from that, everyone begins to turn on Alma and the fun begins. She takes a little downward spiral as people would and tries to "be cool" again for people to like her.
What might you do if you were in a similar situation? Who knows but seeing how things unfold was interesting and entertaining enough. And as one of the reviewers said, although there is some nudity, it was never done to be exploitative. So if you do get to see this film, I hope you can enjoy it for the refreshing view that it offers on this topic and hope you have fun too.
