Review of Turn Me On, Dammit! (2011) by Todd G — 21 Jun 2012
A frank sexual coming of age story about a 15-year-old Norwegian girl. Tries to be too bold, but does a great job examining dynamics of becoming socially outcast with your peers.
The editing is fast and zippy, but the camerawork is a bit of a burden on this movie, leaving everything with a dark and bluish cast to (possibly) mirror the depression that Alma is supposedly feeling. But I found the acting unconvincing.
However, the plot does a great exploration of what can lead to social ostracizing from your friends and the dynamics of how that plays out, which is a unique spin on this. And the comedy and light-hearted nature of this movie are genuine and keep the audience involved.
Also, this movie is unrated due to some sexual contact and content, but the under-age actors are clearly replaced with body doubles during any nudity.
