Implausible. Insane. These are words you could use to describe Turbo Kid, and while they might be a detriment for other movies, Turbo Kid's implausibility is one of the things that makes it so great.

This is a movie that is intentionally cheap looking. It is intentionally impossible. This movie has everything that it needs to gain a foothold in the hall of fame of indie movies. It has great unheard of actors, pulpy and extreme gore, a fantastic production design, brilliant music, well placed jokes that keep the story light without making the movie feel like a comedy, and above all, it manages to be unique and different by playing on the post apocalyptic movies of yesteryear.

Someone called this movie Mad Max on BMX, and it's pretty much true. However, instead of feeling unoriginal, it just makes it even better. This is a fictional world that feels like it is fully inhabited by many people, each with unique stories, but in reality, the movie is super low budget and has an insanely small amount of characters.

The romance is sweet but not overbearing, the twists are genuinely surprising, and the ones that aren't are obvious on purpose. It's like a loving satire that is coincidentally one of the best films of it's genre.

This is thrilling science fiction that is not to be missed, just make sure you can stomach all the gore, and if you can't get a vomit pot.
