Review of Triple 9 (2016) by Tommy M — 27 Jan 2017
When I saw the trailer for this movie it was one I really wanted to see in theatres. Maybe I was a bit over excited now because it wasn't as great as I thought it was gonna be unfortunately. The trailer was very well done, but showed almost every good scene the movie had in it, and some scenes in the movie itself were just very short small ones that looked great in the trailer but in the grand scheme of things was the only reason it was there at all, to be shown in the trailer.
The story was good, it's the typical last job to get free that we have seen 100 times and doesn't do much else that makes it super special to be honest. It even has the typical ending where one the guys goes and kills off the rest for the money and blah blah, but even then the movie is stroll enjoyable.
The cast is very good, loaded even with the guys for the job. They preform well for the most part, but some of the scripting is lacking, and also some of the scenes are just lacking in depth and length, where I Beirut they should have gone in deeper.
The action is good, good sound effects and bullet effects and such, the scene where the team raided the apartment building was a good long scene that showed the attention to detail and skill of the actors, and had some good action as well.
The beginning cat chase wasn't what I thought it would be however, which is a bit of a let down. Overall it's still a good movie, nothing to new story wish but with a good cast, action, dark scenes and some good cinematography, just lacking in depth in some areas and just felt like too much was being pushed into a short running time.
