Review of Trick 'r Treat (2007) by Archibald T — 22 Mar 2011
Serial Killers, Vampires, Werewolves, Ghosts, and Zombies are all the treats for which this little schlocky horror masterpiece presents. The film plays like a comic book. The opening credits are a assortment of comic book images showing certain main characters, like Rhonda, Laurie, Mr, Kreeg and Steven the school principal. The stories play like so....We are introduced to Steven right away as we discover he's a serial killer. Steven is played by Dylan Baker who is really the perfect choice for such a role. Then there is Laurie, the 22 year old virgin. I can't really discuss too much about her part of the story because it would spoil too much, but I will tell you you will be surprised. :).
Then there's Rhonda. A sweet girl who gets tricked by a couple of mean-spirited kids who later get the prank turned on them. When they ask for her to help them, she instead doesn't and leaves them at the hands of what actually turned out to be a true halloween legend involving a couple of kids who drowned in a school bus many years ago. Spooky.
Then there's Mr. Kreeg....I think I'll just stop right here because his part of the story would be too much of a spoiler, but I will say he does get what he deserves in the end.
This is real halloween treat and belongs in the same line of horror films: Like Creepshow and Tales From the Crypt.
