Review of Tremors II: Aftershocks (1996) by Jay F — 23 Mar 2008
What is most shocking about this movie is how not that bad it is. Sure it doesn't hold a candle to the original, but this sequel wisely keeps the humor and colorful characters of the original intact.
While Kevin Bacon and Reba aren't in this one, Fred Ward and Michael Gross return and they were really the heart of it all.
The twist of this one is that the Tremors (Graboids) go through various stages in their life cycle. The first being the gross worms from the original, but the second being these littler dog-like montrosities dubbed Shriekers. They aren't as cool as Graboids, but they are a pretty interesting design nontheless.
There is some shoddy CG work, but the practical effects are pretty good. There is also a really good explosion at the end!
