Review of Tremors 5: Bloodlines (2015) by Sean D — 24 Jan 2016
An appropriate title. The final or at least 5th outing is from the '90s series Tremors that starred Kevin Bacon. A special film that kind of started this abnormal creature feature series that continued with Anaconda and Lake Placid, it's always been an action film with low violence and comedic humour but probably not enough to be considered a comedy.
The beginning of the film is very nice and generous to the first time Tremors watchers or folks who haven't been keeping up with every entry in the series because they kind of sort of catch the viewer up on something that is key to understanding the species based on past entries. It wasn't done ever so deliberately that it feels forced. It blends in well, so well that the characters end up melding together one after another.
As for only personally seeing one other entry and that being the original, this film 4 sequels still carried over the favorable elements of the first film with a decent but underrated casting. Enjoyable to watch again and good enough to be viewed in a group, this film shows that the series can continue to strive and feel fresh like Final Destination.
