Review of Tremors (1990) by Ryan V — 28 Apr 2014
This film was frequently rerun on basic cable for over a decade and that may explain the somewhat puzzling ubiquity of Kevin Bacon. The plot surrounds an isolated and sparsely populated town that's beset by a horde of giant, subterranean worm monsters.
While Tremors is an obvious nod to giant monster mashes of the previous generation, it distinguishes itself thanks to slick storytelling, nice monster effects, and a game cast that projects a cheeky sense of humor.
While not a masterpiece, it's a likable cult classic that's far more charming than the Eight Legged Freaks and Sharknadoes that arose in its wake.
