Review of Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014) by Nyvek R — 31 Mar 2015
Loud, nonsensical, misogynistic, brash, explosion-y, dumb, and yet oh so much stupid fun. There's no mistaking a Michael Bay film for any other film-maker's work, and yet one cannot deny that this makes him something of an auteur, in the strictest sense of the word.
Bay's insistence on getting as much 'in camera' in possible always flavours his movies with an extra dimension of realism in wholly unrealistic settings, and there's very few people that can film action in such an overblown way as him.
Although I still maintain that the first movie in the franchise is a genuine classic, and great movie which each subsequent entry seems unfortunately to be moving away from.
