Review of Transcendence (2014) by Nathan E — 29 Aug 2014
Not a bad film, it has certainly been researched well, as someone with a computer science degree, I found it possibly more entertaining than as a cautionary tale, which is it seems part of it, however I feel it does show how humans can be ignorant in their acceptance of new technology and simply people are scared of what they don't understand, could we ever create such an intelligence? or perhaps we would all be better as an AI rather than humans limited by biological constraints.
The AI is also understood to be a mere pattern of electrical impulses , but to copy that you would surely need a baby from birth and all the experiences in order to create a copy, its nature vs nurture and nurture is important, you couldn't copy an adult brain and memory without being able to stimulate every memory and experience into the upload.
although well researched that is one thing which stands out as impossible, story clearly wins over what is possible.
