Review of Transcendence (2014) by Killininstinct — 14 Jun 2022

The Cast is incredible and delivers as one would expect, but the writing for each character except Johnny's made them feel like utter dumbasses basically ruining the milestones in health, environmental healing, and potential for growth of everything. The writing of the movie plot itself is very good and enjoyable to listen to, watch and think about even after the movie has ended since it uses vital points that matter in the real world. Climate change, treatment of mental and bodily diseases, etc. The only part that annoyed me throughout the whole movie was the cliché, that all people feared Johnny's character and chose to destroy him.

In the end, when Johnny's character dies, his wife dies with him, since her blood was injected with a kind of virus needed to kill him. The whole power grid of the world gets a total blackout since he was connected to everything (in this case, there's no power anymore and no one has electricity). The plan of regrowing forests all over the world has been halted. All water would have been clean to drink from every lake, every pond, and basically just everywhere. This was halted. The end plot is that basically every character was wrong and Johnny's character was always himself and actually tried (and was successful until he died) to help the entire world, while he was turned into an AI basically. So he wasn't an evil AI.

It just leaves a bad aftertaste after being annoyed by that writing for the entire movie, while the rest of the movie was seriously interesting, had good cinematography, and had a good cast.

So I'm rating it a 7/10 since the movie itself was very good, but the side characters' writing (dumbness) just ruined everything that happened in the entire movie and left the planet off worse than before.
